A culture of innovation requires a work environment that is inclusive of varied worldviews, perspectives, and lived experiences plus a spirit of collaboration to flourish. The intention to diversify the representation of racialized people on staff must be enacted within a larger plan to address institutional and internal barriers that maintain the status quo. Institutions must be willing to recognize, dismantle, and build new ways of working that reorganize power and privilege in order to create a more equitable work environment for racialized people. Through examples of intentional practice in action at Visions of Science, Ryerson University, and the Ontario Science Centre, learn how to apply the lenses of intersectional feminism and anti-racism in order to build equitable pathways into science.
