It is people and their ideas, not technology, that are at the heart of the Ingenium Digital Innovation Lab. Breaking down the silos across our three museums, the Lab is a design-thinking hub that facilitates the collaboration of diverse minds to solve problems and shape exploratory and creative experiences, within our walls and beyond. Through the creation and validation of personas and engaging a strong network of partners early on, this user-centred approach helped us understand the importance of building a space that was flexible, accessible, and modular to support multiple uses centering around themes such as our Accessible and Inclusive Design Initiative, working open, exploring emerging technology, failing with purpose, co-creation, collaboration, and STEAM. This panel session will begin by looking at Ingenium’s approach to the creation of an innovation lab including user-centric methodologies, pilot projects, partnerships, and lessons learned, and will then open the floor to participants interested in sharing their own experiences with similar projects.
